BackgroundSince time began, music has successfully brought people together, strengthening communities, contributing to social change and improving public health on a global scale.
At the core of our everyday experiences we instinctively use music to relax, connect with and express our emotions, signpost and celebrate life journeys, build friendships, strengthen community ties and thereby improve our general health and personal wellbeing. Since 2014 Music and The Brain Foundation (MBF) has consistently delivered programs at a national level to improve public health by engaging people in music making, singing, dancing and listening. With our national office located in Highett (right on the border of City of Bayside and City of Kingston), MBF would like to be more actively involved within the local area and is considering an opportunity to establish a "Neighbourhood Music House" to engage, support and deliver "all things music". We have no guide book for this and know of no other suburb where a specific space is dedicated to bringing people together to create and share music as we would propose. If we are to progress this opportunity and make it truly successful we need guidance from those who live within, or sometimes visit, our diverse community. |
